What EIT Food FAN actually is
EIT Food is the agrifood innovation body of the European Union, backed by the European Institute of Innovation & Technology. FAN — the Food Accelerator Network — is its pan-European accelerator for early-stage agrifoodtech ventures. It runs through a network of city hubs across Europe, each hosting its own cohort while sharing one EU-wide curriculum, mentor pool and investor network. Warsaw is one of those hubs: the cohort it convenes is European, not local.
The Pool of Workshop Providers is the vetted roster of experts EIT Food draws on to deliver the programme content — finance, investor readiness, commercial strategy — to founders selected into the cohorts.
Open to startups from EU member states and Horizon Europe associated countries — founders travel in from across Western, Central, Eastern and Nordic Europe, with hubs historically in cities including Warsaw, Madrid, Munich, Milan, Haifa and Cambridge.
Agritech and precision farming, alternative proteins, food processing and ingredients, novel foods, packaging and circularity, supply-chain and logistics software, food waste, AI and digital tooling for agrifood, plus health and nutrition.
Pre-seed to seed: incorporated ventures with a working prototype or early pilots, moving toward first paying customers and an institutional round. That is exactly where financial evidence and SEIS/EIS structuring decide whether a round closes.
